Students may apply for suspensions of one semester, one academic year, or two academic years. They may not resume their studies during the semester. Accumulated suspension periods should generally not exceed two academic years. If students apply for suspensions due to mandatory military service, pregnancy, childbirth, or care for children below the age of three, they must submit documentary proof with their applications. These periods will not be added to their total suspension periods. Students who wish to apply for further suspensions after they have reached the maximum of two years may be granted extensions of one semester or one academic year. If students are unable to resume their studies upon expiry of suspension periods due to serious illness or other special circumstances, they must submit documentary proof which has to be approved by the university president (please refer to Article 26 of the academic rules listed in the academic regulations in the announcement section of the homepage of the NDHU Office of Academic Affairs)
